Reviews
The staff are excellent, friendly, and attentive; we also saw the owner wandering the dining rooms. The interior is lovely and interesting. The food is rather good, though the portions are somewhat small, at least in terms of pasta / vegetables. Appetizers were excellent, and the house bread was good. I enjoyed the experience, but I prefer several other Italian restaurants in the city.

Very old school Italian place, and you can tell some people have been coming here for decades. But young people sprinkled in too. Not particularly my vibe, but nonetheless good amount of seating and very friendly staff so it was nice.
The table bread was dry, and there weren't many vegetarian options. It's an old school place with old school menu, so I wasn't super surprised though. However, I got the asparagus pasta in pink cream sauce and it was good.
Had reservations for 6 people with a birthday celebration. Table was set for 8 and hostess didn’t remove the extra settings (lazy) saying “they” would do it—the already busy wait staff. My brother-in-law and I removed the settings and spread out the six settings and removed the chairs. When confirming the reservation on phone, restaurant wanted to know name of celebrant but wait staff knew nothing and didn’t comp at least one of the deserts. Clearly owner wasn’t there as he was last time. Food was great though and waiters brought food out on time and kept water filled.
Not bad, but not amazing. It is incredibly popular and incredibly busy. The spaghetti and meatballs, which won a best of Philly award, was good, but again not as good as the award might suggest. Because the restaurant was so busy, the service was okay. I think that there are a lot of people who love this place because it was packed. Maybe a case of different strokes for different folks.
Very nice Italian restaurant in an urban setting. I went there to attend a family reunion dinner. We had a reservation for 38 people. We were seated promptly, and enough servers were assigned to our party. Our service was prompt, friendly and efficient. The servers were attentive enough so that we never felt neglected, but they were not overly obtrusive.
The kitchen staff must have been equally well organized because our orders were delivered in a timely way. The portions were generous but not excessive, and everyone praised the taste of their meal.
I had a D'Angelo signature salad. It was excellent. They didn't have eggplant parmesan on the menu, but that's what I wanted, and they made it for me. It was outstanding.
The prices were reasonable, and the decor was very nice. The only reason I gave four stars instead of five was that parking is very difficult in that neighborhood, I needed to park three blocks away, and most of the seating is on the second or third floor, and they don't have an elevator.
If you are in the neighborhood already and you don't mind walking up one or two flights of stairs, then I highly recommend D'Angelo's.
If you are looking for a real Italian place, that’s it!
Food and service, excellent!!
Atmosphere, unique!!
You feel like visiting your nonna! If you are not of Italian descent, you will finally understand what we always talk about!
The owner walks around talking to the customers and if you invite him, he will even come and share a glass of wine with you. (If he is not busy, of course)
Weather permitting, sitting outdoors under the vine is also great!
An Italian restaurant next to an Irish church, only in Philadelphia! 🤗
They were able to handle a party of 25 like expert craftsmans.
The food is incredible. The service is impeccable. The owner is a gentleman. The bartender, Mr. not Gus 😂😂 was personable and knowledgeable.
I could not say enough about this place. Being an Italian American myself I am very picky about my food but I was more than pleased in the quality of the appetizers, the entrees, and the incredible desserts. Fresh pasta. Great steaks. Wonderful sauces. An incredible variety. And I cannot say enough about that impeccable service for such a large group. Everything was served at perfect timing. Everything was hot and fresh. And the place was waiting for us upon arrival.
You want authentic Southern Italian cuisine.
You want fair prices.
You want incredible service.
You want fresh dishes.
You want personality.
Then this is your place.
Un'esperienza incredibile che rimarrà nella mia mente per sempre.
BRAVO!
This is a great space for a small event! My company recently provided a photo booth for a company holiday party hosted at this restaurant. It is a great atmosphere with wonderful food! Twinkle Photo Booth hopes to return soon!
